Our solution for milk composition analysis uses the latest data engineering technologies and machine learning models to provide accurate real-time insights into the quality and composition of milk to dairy farms. By extensively collecting data from sensors, we are able to generate a comprehensive picture of the milk’s characteristics.
We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our data science team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing machine learning models to provide insights regarding animals health and productivity by combining real-time milk composition with animal-related information from our clients’ farms and third party data.

Description
Brolis Sensor Technology is a dedicated photonic sensor technology company within Brolis Group, it currently manages 2 offices: in Vilnius, Lithuania and in Ghent, Belgium. The company is a vertically integrated hardware-hard technology company. Our technology encompasses in-house semiconductor material synthesis by MBE, device design, processing into chips (lasers, gain-chips, photodetectors), photonic integrated circuit design, testing, system-on-a-chip development and assembly, III-V to silicon integration technology, complete system assembly and application development (spectroscopic sensing, data algorithm development etc.).
The growth: our company doubled last year, and we are planning to grow even more. You will be a very welcome next member of our team.
The investment: we are one of the first European companies to receive support from the European Investment Bank! Together with private investors, the investment reaches 15 million Eur and will finance the ongoing R&D and roll-out of the new sensor technology.
The product: we are about to produce industrial sensor systems that can be used to measure milk composition in agriculture, or for in-line monitoring in the beverage industry.
The role:
- Develop machine learning models for animal health evaluation and prediction
- Participate in planning clinical trials in dairy farms to gather relevant data
- Collaborate with the hardware R&D team to ensure the suitability and reliability of features for model development
- Handle, clean, extract, and transform datasets to prepare them for analysis
- Independently develop and refine machine learning models to meet project objectives
- Communicate effectively with team members and experts to understand requirements and present findings

Requirements
As an ideal candidate you have to be passionate about what you do, be friendly, self-driven, collaborative and always aim for the best result. You’ll have a direct impact to the success of the products we’ll build together. We expect you to have:
- 3+ years of experience working with at least one machine learning framework such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
- SQL basics
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, etc.)
- Proficiency in utilizing the scikit-learn library for data preprocessing and model development
- Ability to independently develop and refine machine learning models based on project objectives
- Strong skills in dataset handling, cleaning, extraction, and transformation
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong attention to the details
- Enjoy sharing your work and experience with the rest of the team
- Good level of written and spoken English
- You can learn and adapt quickly
