Business Development Manager

  • Position Summary

    The Business Development Manager will join the newly established Klaipėda office team and play a pivotal role in expanding Grandus AS project portfolio by identifying and securing new shipbuilding and manufacturing opportunities, while also developing a robust network of subcontractors and industrial partners.

    This role requires a combination of technical understanding, B2B sales expertise, and partnership development, with a focus on complex, custom-built projects in marine and related industries.

    Key Responsibilities
    New Project Acquisition (Core Focus):
    • Identify and develop new shipbuilding and contract manufacturing opportunities globally
    • Target sectors such as:Commercial vessels
    • Workboats and specialized marine craft
    • Industrial composite structures
    • Proactively source OEM, custom-build, and partnership-based projects
    • Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified leads
    • Lead negotiations, proposals, and contract agreements with clients
    Strategic Business Growth:
    • Analyze global trends in shipbuilding, advanced materials, and maritime innovation
    • Identify opportunities to expand Grandus’ capabilities and service offering
    • Develop new business models (e.g., co-development, joint ventures, outsourcing partnerships)
    • Support company positioning as a preferred shipbuilding partner for complex projects
    Cross-functional Coordination:
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to assess project feasibility
    • Support technical discussions with clients during early project stages
    • Ensure smooth transition from sales to execution
    • Align external partners with internal project requirements
    Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, shipyards, and industrial partners
    • Act as the main commercial contact for strategic projects
    • Represent the company at international maritime exhibitions and industry events
    • Strengthen brand presence within the global shipbuilding ecosystem
    Qualifications & Requirements
    Education & Experience:
    • Degree in Business, Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field
    • 5+ years of experience in Business Development Manager or Project Manager roles in shipbuilding / marine / heavy manufacturing field
    • OR industrial B2B project sales
    • Proven track record in acquiring complex, high-value projects
    Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes
    • Experience with project-based sales (not just product sales)
    • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
    • Ability to operate in international and cross-cultural environments
    • Strategic thinking with a hands-on execution mindset
    • English proficiency
    Preferred:
    • Experience in shipbuilding, offshore, or composite manufacturing
    • Existing network in maritime or industrial sectors
    • Knowledge of subcontracting and supply chain ecosystems
    Key Performance Indicators:
    • Number and value of new shipbuilding / manufacturing projects secured
    • Growth and quality of subcontractor network
    • Revenue generated from new partnerships
    • Conversion rate from lead to signed project
    • Contribution to strategic expansion of company capabilities
