Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and people-focused Head of Accounting & Financial Reporting to lead and continuously develop our accounting and statutory reporting function within a regulated financial services environment.
This is a senior leadership role with full ownership of financial reporting integrity, regulatory compliance, and team performance. Beyond technical excellence, the role requires a strong leader who can build capability, drive accountability, and influence cross-functional stakeholders at executive level.
The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening financial governance, enhancing reporting quality, and supporting strategic decision-making at Board and senior management level.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and financial reporting team (8 FTE), fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear objectives, performance standards, and development plans for the team.
- Drive process optimization, efficiency improvements, and reporting excellence.
- Build succession planning and strengthen internal technical capabilities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on financial reporting and regulatory matters.
Financial & Regulatory Reporting
- Take full ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and applicable local GAAP.
- Oversee regulatory reporting to supervisory authorities, including solvency and risk-based capital submissions.
- Ensure strict compliance with Bank of Lithuania regulatory frameworks and statutory deadlines.
- Lead preparation and presentation of Board reports, management accounts, and shareholder reporting.
- Monitor and proactively assess changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Accounting & Technical Oversight
- Oversee accounting for business contracts, including premium recognition, claims reserves, acquisition costs, and technical provisions.
- Work closely with Actuarial to ensure accuracy of reserves, liabilities, and solvency calculations.
- Ensure consistency, robustness, and proper documentation of accounting policies and technical interpretations.
Audit, Controls & Governance
- Lead all external and internal audit engagements and act as primary liaison with auditors and regulators.
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
- Ensure alignment with risk management, governance, and compliance frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership
- Collaborate closely with Actuarial, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, and Investments teams.
- Provide financial insight to support pricing strategy, underwriting decisions, capital management, and reinsurance structures.
- Present financial and regulatory results confidently to senior management and the Board.
- Serve as a key finance representative in strategic and regulatory discussions.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a regulated financial services environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing teams, with demonstrated ability to drive performance and accountability.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, regulatory reporting, and solvency frameworks.
- Solid experience managing audits in a regulated environment.
- Strong ERP and financial systems experience.
