remote call interview in Lithuania

How do I apply for a job on a remote call interview?

The popularity of online, virtual job interview, made possible by the Corona virus, is still popular today, as it saves both employees and employers a lot of time. As teleworking is becoming more and more popular, it is only natural that interviews for positions are also mostly conducted online.

Proper preparation

It makes no difference whether you are going to be working remotely, whether you are in an office, whether you are interviewing online, on the phone or face-to-face – you need to be properly prepared, which shows that you are a responsible person, and at the same time you will be a responsible worker. It is important to do as much research as possible into the company itself, as this shows your responsibility and therefore your accountability. In the end, you may decide that you don’t even want to work here.

Proper attire

Job competitions are usually conducted via Skype and other applications where you can see as well as hear. Naturally, this requires not only the right psychological preparation, but also physical preparation. Even on camera, you can see exactly how you have prepared. You need the right clothing. From socks to the right hairstyle, you should make the same choices as when you go to a job interview. While abroad things are much more relaxed when it comes to appearance, in Lithuania there is still a lot of focus on clothing.

Prepare your questions

Working remotely from home often raises a lot more questions than going to the office, as there will be no colleagues to help. That’s why make sure you find out about working conditions. If working remotely suits you, find out about working hours, how you can be “reached”, who is responsible and who should communicate with them until you get the hang of it.

Labour Code and other legal nuances

During the quarantine, we also realised that we need to pay more attention to the labour code and thus the nuances of the employment contract. Simply put, the contract is often drafted without taking into account the details (especially if the workers are not careful), which then leads to uncertainties that have to be dealt with by the Labour Disputes Commission. It makes no difference whether you are interested in a job in the civil service or in the private sector – even in a virtual interview, you need to know the details.

Applying for a job

Job offers are usually made on the internet, on advertising portals (as they always are) and the employee must send his/her CV by e-mail. In this case, it makes no difference whether the positions are open or competitively tendered under a contract.
