Overview
We are looking for an experienced technology leader who will align technology with business goals, foster innovation, and maximize the value of delivered IT solutions to both clients and employees of the company. The role oversees technology asset management, IT operations, product development, and vulnerability management. The IT Director Baltics collaborates with local and PZU Group executive leadership teams to develop and execute technology roadmaps, optimize IT operations, and ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the technological environment, ensuring that the business objectives are met in an effective manner and an appropriate timeline.
The IT Director Baltics is a member of the top-level management team, managing the IT team of more than 70 employees and 6 direct subordinates and reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), a member of the Board of Directors of AB “Lietuvos draudimas”.
Responsibilities
Business development:
- Combining technology with company business goals – understanding the business needs of the insurance sector on both strategic and technical levels and translating them into appropriate technological solutions.
- Strategic planning – developing a technology strategy in collaboration with business leaders.
- Overseeing the implementation of the technology strategy – collaborating with the directors of business units and managers of technology functions and products.
- KPI analysis – Aligning strategies and activities to achieve key business goals
- Managing the budget for implementing technological changes.
Technology innovation:
- Working closely with IT leadership to develop strategic plans and make recommendations for significant information technology projects involving functional changes.
- Acquiring knowledge about new trends – market analysis, participation in conferences, meetings with technology service providers and startups.
- Identifying business needs and selecting optimal technological solutions.
- Solution architecture design – creating high-level architectural concepts, considering cost and time optimization, in collaboration with IT architects, product owners and IT service vendors (third-party companies).
- Technology implementation coordination – accountable for the roadmap of technological projects and oversight of their implementation.
People management:
- Recruit, foster and challenge IT team members, clearly define roles and responsibilities, and establish objective seniority levels to guide career progression.
- Cultivate a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive work environment where team members feel supported and empowered to share ideas and give feedback.
- Lead IT Vendor Management with regards to the selection, negotiation, and contract management for service level agreements with third-party providers as required, and maintaining a risk-based framework to mitigate and monitor third-party risk.
- Stakeholder relationship management – build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the company.
Requirements
- BSc/BA in Business Management, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
- MBA or other relevant graduate degree in business management will be an advantage.
- 7+ years of experience in IT architecture or software development in CTO, CIO or equivalent position.
- Experience working in highly regulated business environment where both actions and ideas are subject to the highest level of legal and ethical standards.
- In-depth knowledge of EU regulatory environment for digital and financial services, including DORA, GDPR and other compliance programs and policies.
- Business knowledge in the insurance/finance industry will be an advantage.
- Analytical thinking and ability to oversee business needs and translate them into solution architecture.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles and experience conducting risk assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives
- Experience in budgeting and strategic planning, reporting to the supervisory boards and shareholders.
- Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standard situations.
- Deep empathy for both agile business leaders (e.g., product/marketing) and internal IT/security partners striving for innovation while maintaining control and compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner with business leaders and translate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- English proficiency.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
